The Summoning is not functional in the traditional sense. Its function is to anchor, to echo, to hold space, both materially and spiritually.

Description

The Summoning is a sculptural vessel that stands with quiet authority, both grounded and otherworldly. The form recalls ancient ritual jars, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Its five rising ring handles evoke a sense of ceremony, communication, and collective memory, as if the piece itself were built to carry voices from one world to another.
The surface is textured with a matte volcanic skin, achieved through a carefully balanced glaze composition rich in copper and iron oxide. Firing in reduction allowed the minerals to pool, separate, and break through the surface, resulting in a subtle interplay of weathered green, oxidized blue, and shadowed charcoal.
Each handle was pulled and attached by hand, its circular voids deliberately imperfect, reminders of movement, of breath, of the hands that formed them. Though solid and still, the piece feels in motion- like sound waves held in clay, or a vessel waiting to be lifted and filled with intention.
