This workshop offers a complete introduction to the art of pottery throwing, guiding you through the entire process, from clay preparation to glazing the finished piece.

Description

Participants will gain hands-on experience at every stage, including centring, shaping, refining forms on the wheel, trimming, and final touches.

The course concludes with glazing techniques that transform raw clay into a finished ceramic piece.

 

 What We Will Cover

 

– Wedging & Preparing Clay

– Centering on the Wheel 

– Throwing Cylinders

– Forming Different Shapes 

– Trimming & Refinement

– Decorating & Glazing

Good to Know

 

Each participant will receive 5–8kg of clay to practice with, giving you plenty of material to experiment and refine your skills.

Each participant can keep up to 3 of their finished pieces, All pieces will be dried, bisque-fired at 960°C, glazed by you with a transparent stoneware glaze, and glaze-fired at 1200°C to ensure a food-safe, waterproof, and durable finish.

Interested in exploring more glaze options? Additional finishes are available for purchase at the studio.

Final pieces will be ready for pickup within 2 to 4 weeks after the session.
