Description

How It Works
Coil construction is one of the oldest methods of forming pottery, dating back thousands of years across cultures. It’s a slow, meditative process that offers a great deal of control over the shape and size of your piece, and just as importantly, it encourages creativity and personal expression. Each participant is free to design and create their unique form, making no two outcomes quite the same. At Zolta Studio, creativity is encouraged, so feel free to experiment with shapes and let your imagination guide the process as you build your unique piece.

What We’ll Cover

The Art of Coiling: The core principles of coil building, including how to shape, support, and control the structure.
Building Forms: Discover how to stack, blend, and refine coils to create strong, expressive designs.
Surface Refinement: Explore techniques for adding texture, pattern, and smooth finishes to complete your work.

Good to Know

Once your piece is finished, we’ll handle the rest. It will first be bisque-fired at 960°C, then coated with a transparent stoneware glaze, and finally high-fired at 1200°C to ensure a food-safe, waterproof, and durable finish.

Would you prefer to glaze your work yourself? We offer a dedicated glazing session (highly recommended for beginners), where you can decorate your piece with color and apply the transparent glaze.

Additional ready-made glaze options are also available for purchase at the studio.

Your finished ceramics will be ready for pickup approximately 2–4 weeks after the workshop, following drying and both firings.
