A Space for Independent Practice​

Friday Open Studio at Zolta is dedicated to focused, self-guided ceramic work. Located in Vienna’s 3rd District, the studio offers a calm, light-filled environment equipped with six professional pottery wheels, spacious workstations, and all essential tools.

Open Studio is suitable for both skill practice and independent work by experienced makers. It provides the time and space to work with clay at your own pace, whether refining wheel throwing techniques or developing hand-building projects, within a professional studio setting.

Work independently during Open Studio hours12:00 – 20:00, ONLY ON FRIDAYS!

What’s Included
During Friday Open Studio, participants have access to the ceramic studio for the full session, including shared tools and equipment for hand-building and wheel work. Zolta’s transparent studio glaze is provided for finished pieces, and kiln firing is available at a reduced member rate of €6.50 per kg (non-members: €12.50 per kg). Practice clay is included for skill development at no extra charge.

Open Studio FAQ

Yes! We offer stoneware clay in several types: White clay, Terracotta clay (brown), Black clay and White clay with dark speckles

Clay is sold in 10 kg bags, with prices ranging from €20 to €30, depending on the type.

For Glaze we sell Mayco Stoneware glazes at Zolta Studio. 

No, bringing your own clay is not possible. You can choose from our selection of high-quality studio clay.

For Glaze, also No. Using your own glaze can damage the kiln and shelves, which is why we don’t accept it. We have a wide selection of stoneware glazes available for purchase in the studio.

Yes. Open Studio is intended for makers with experience in clay. If you’re new to ceramics, we recommend taking a workshop with us first before booking an independent session.

Each participant must book individually. Your friend is welcome to join, but they need to book their own spot.

Open Studio is self-guided for experienced makers. Studio staff are available for technical support if needed, but instruction is not provided.

Also, all participants must follow studio safety rules, including proper use of wheels, tools, and cleaning procedures.

Finished pieces can be fired in the studio kiln at reduced member rates (€6.50/kg). Non-members pay €12.50/kg.

Finished pieces must be collected within 8 weeks of completion. Unclaimed work after 12 weeks will be donated.
